St Mirren, a Scottish professional football club based in Stirling, has announced the appointment of former Scottish International and former Scotland manager Alex McLeay as their new head coach.
McLeay, who spent nine years with Celtic, is known for his ability to inspire and motivate his players, having guided them to several League One and Scottish Cup victories during his time at Celtic.
"I am delighted to be joining the team at St Mirren," said McLeay. "I have enjoyed my career with Celtic and I believe that I can bring a fresh perspective to this position."
The move comes after McLeay's previous stint as Celtic's manager saw him lead them to promotion from the Championship last season. He also had success with the Republic of Ireland national team, winning two caps and scoring four goals in his first two World Cups.
McLeay will now take on a new challenge as the head coach of St Mirren, hoping to build on the successes he has already achieved at Celtic and to help the club achieve its ambitions in the coming seasons.
"The coaching staff at St Mirren are confident that we can go one step further in our pursuit of promotion back into the top flight," added McLeay. "We look forward to working closely with the players and supporters to achieve our ambitious aims."
