Monaco have secured their place at the top of Ligue 1 after defeating Reims 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. The victory was all the more impressive given that Monaco had to come back from behind against a team who had beaten them twice already this season.
The first half was a closely contested affair as both teams created chances but were unable to find the back of the net. However, Monaco finally broke the deadlock in the 57th minute when Benjamin Mendy scored from close range following a corner.
Reims responded immediately however and equalised in the 68th minute through Frédéric Sérir. However, Monaco's defence held firm and they were able to hold on for the win.
Benjamin Mendy's goal was a well-deserved winner for Monaco, who have now won four consecutive games and moved up to second in the table. They will be looking to continue their winning run when they take on Nice next week.
Overall, it was another strong performance from Monaco, who have been one of the form teams in Ligue 1 this season. They will be hoping to maintain their momentum and continue their winning streak when they face off against Nice next weekend.
